COMMUNITY EVENT: Paul Piff
January 12, 2018 @ 8:45 am - 10:00 am| FREE
This community event is hosted by St Margaret’s Episcopal School.
Assistant Professor of psychology and social behavior at UC Irvine, Piff will speak to the emerging science of awe and its transformative role in our lives. Awe helps shift our focus from narrow self-interest to the interests of others and is that often-positive feeling of being in the presence of something vast that transcends our understanding of the world. It is an antidote to narcissism, motivating us to act in collaborative ways that enable strong groups and more cohesive communities. Piff also directs the Morality, Emotion, and Social Hierarchy Lab at UCI.
The Parent Up Speaker Series is an educational initiative generously funded through the PTF grant program. It is free of charge and open to the entire community. Bring friends and take advantage of these thought-provoking and engaging presenters. Reception in the PAC Lobby begins at 8:45 a.m., followed by speaker presentations from 9-10 a.m in the Hurlbut Theater. All book signings will take place in the lobby directly following the speaker presentation
